Shoe FAQ

I have a problem with my shoes; who should I contact?
If you have a problem with your Exustar shoes, you should contact the retailer that sold them to you. Exustar is unable to provide service directly to you.

If I have a question about Exus shoes, can you help me?
If you have questions about Exustar or Exus shoes, you should contact your Exustar dealer. If for some reason your dealer cannot assist you, we will be happy to try to help. (Since 2003 our shoes have been called Exustar, not Exus.)

I just bought a pair of Exustar shoes; why are the cleats missing?
They are not missing. Like most shoe companies, we do not supply cleats with shoes. Cleats and hardware are supplied with new Exustar clipless pedals. They are also available separately as replacement parts. Cleats are shown on your shoe instructions only to illustrate how they should be assembled to the shoe sole. See our Cleat page.

How do I take care of my shoes?

You can extend the life of your Exustar shoes by taking a little time to clean and care for them:

Store your shoes away from sunshine in a well-ventilated place.
If storing for a lengthy period of time, loosely pack shoes with balls of paper to help them maintain their shape.
Always air-dry your footwear after each use. Remove inner sole to air inside the shoe properly.
Remove dry mud with a stiff plastic-bristled brush.
Remove any small stones or objects that may have lodged in the shoe sole, particularly around cleat area, vents or spike holes.
Grime can be removed with a damp cloth. Do not immerse shoes in water, or machine-wash. Inner soles may be washed separately.
Do not leave wet shoes enclosed in a bag for an extended time as this can create mould.
If insoles are badly worn, Exustar supplies replacement insoles. There are also numerous third party options for replacement.
Damaged or badly worn shoes should be replaced.

Are Exustar shoes compatible with Speedplay Zero pedals?
Yes, our road shoes are compatible with Zero pedals. Speedplay supplies adaptor hardware with the pedals. According to their website, "The 1-F and 1-R Snap Shims are factory installed on the 3-hole plastic base plate of the cleat." See the Speedplay website for details and instructions.
